My paintings hang on the walls of several private and public art collections.
Creating art is like traveling to a mountain range on the edge of a never ending desert.
I pass through heat waves, and mirages, painting myself into corners and breaking through the boundaries. I dance to the music of light, and think that time might be a color.
If only I could create the human form in one muscular stroke, and capture the landscape with one swoop of a butterfly net.
My art education as well as my outlook on life is basically a self-directed program. I began my artistic path in 1993 with a beginning drawing class at the Palo Alto Art Center, and from there I enrolled in art classes whenever and wherever I could, mainly at the Community Colleges, Pacific Art League, Palo Alto Art Center, and workshops with various artists. Lately it’s been the time I spend standing at my easel that I learn the most. For me, painting isn’t about a planned method for a predictable outcome, it’s the discoveries and the risk taking where I find the most fulfillment.
Having a dance/competitive sports background, as well as having been a Massage Therapist for 20 years has given me an intuitive feel for the human form. I’m a physical painter. The more I can move, and dance around the canvas, the more connected I feel to the painting. I retired from my massage therapy business in 2003 to paint full-time.
I was born and raised in the SF Bay Area, and live in Redwood City with my husband, Joe and our dog, Tango.
